Ras Banas

Ras Banas is a peninsula jutting out into Egypt's Southern Red Sea. To the south of Ras Banas is an inlet of water called Foul Bay, on which sits the ancient port of Berenice.
Wreck of the Atlas
Built in 1909 the 4,000 ton Atlas was torpedoed in 1940 off the Yemen by an Italian submarine. As she settled to the bottom the vessel broke in two and the stern section was salvaged and made watertight. She was then towed to Alexandria but as they reached Ras Banas the winds picked up, the towage broke and the stern section sank.
