Myanmar from ThailandMyanmar, formerly Burma, should appear in a description of Thailand's Andaman Sea as for a number of year the diving here has been on liveaboard safaris coming across the border from Thailand. Due to uncontrolled fishing much of the shark life that attracted those early boats has been depleted and with the current political situation H2Odive do not offer safaris into Myanmar's waters.
Burma Banks A largely unexplored area, the Banks are a series of large underwater flat-topped sea mounts with huge plate corals. The reasons for coming out to this remote spot are the sharks. One of the few places where big sharks, including nurse sharks, reef sharks and big silvertips, come into shallow water. Mergui Archipelago is a collection of hundreds of uninhabited tropical islands with thick rain forest and white sand beaches. The diving here is very remote which is probably the main attraction. There are numerous sites, many unnamed, the best known being Black Rock an 80 metres high pinnacle attracting pelagics like eagle rays.
