Diver Training and Clubs
BSAC British Sub Aqua Club - This club was formed in 1953 by a group of divers in London. BSAC was a founding member of the Confederation Mondiale des Activities Subaquatiques. It's thought to be the world's largest dive club. The BSAC school system is now taught in many countries around the world.
ScotSAC Scottish Sub Aqua Club - ScotSAC was formed in 1953 and is recognised and supported by Sportscotland as the National Governing Body for the sport of diving in Scotland.
SAA Sub-Aqua Association - the SAA is an association of independent dive clubs, mainly in the UK. SAA member clubs maintain their independence while maintaining the national standards of the SAA and benefiting from regional and national support.
CMAS Confederation Mondiale de Activities Subaquatiques - CMAS was established in 1959 to unite all the national diving organizations that were beginning to develop worldwide. Jacques Cousteau was the organisation's first president and the organisation now certifies over a hundred thousand divers every year.
PADI Professional Association of Diving Instructors  This Californian based agency is considered to be the world's largest diver-training organisation. The PADI training system is offered in over 3000 dive centres and resorts throughout the world. The schooling system incorporates learning via written and video modules, confined water training, a written exam and four open water dives.
NAUI National Association of Underwater Instructors - Established in 1959 as a membership association. NAUI, based in the USA, claims to be the world's most respected, largest non-profit diver training organization in the world.
SSI Scuba Schools International – the SSI is a commercial company promoting "serious diving - serious fun", is Colorado based. The first SSI agency was opened in Southeast Asia in 1983 and now has a worldwide network of regional centres serving the needs of divers, instructors and dealers. SSI merged with the National Association of Scuba Diving Schools in 1999.
TDI Technical Diving international - Technical diver certification agency providing course descriptions on mixed gas diving, overhead environment and rebreathers. Spreading its wings into standard diver training & first responce training.
